Probio 2015 – Recent advances in gut microbiota, prebiotic and probiotic sciences is a key event on prebiotics and probiotics. This symposium is presented by Institute on Nutrition and Functional Foods (INAF) and Association for Health Ingredients in Food (AISA).
INAF has put together the largest team of Canadian researchers dedicated to understanding the complex relationships between foods, food components, nutrition and health, and the role they play in prevention of chronic diseases. Founded by Université Laval’s food and agriculture faculty (FSAA) in the early 2000s, INAF is a research institute that maintains close ties with the medical and pharmacy faculties. Its approximately 80 members, nearly half are from various universities and research organizations. INAF puts science at the service of nutrition to fulfill its mission and ensure its actions lead to concrete and durable results that benefit the population’s health and the bio-food sector.
AISA is the only forum for all organizations, businesses and professionals interested in the science of healthy ingredients and seeking to encourage the development and ethical, credible and effective marketing of foods with increased health value. With its partners, AISA plans and performs the transfer and sharing of knowledge by collecting and making available scientific evidences that recognize the benefits and health claims of food ingredients.
PROBIO 2015 is supported by key partners such as Ordre professionnel des diététistes du Québec (OPDQ), wishing to educate professionals with diverse backgrounds to the pros and cons of probiotics for human health. The resulting awareness may lead to the transmission of better information on the preventive role of this class of food to consumers.
To help achieve this complex goal, INAF and AISA are connected to associates through its committees.
To secure funding, both organisations seek financial support through sponsorships from companies or organizations with an interest in the themes exploited.
